Personal Goals and 3 Simple Steps To Greater Success
When it comes to our personal goals, we tend to become sidetracked and replace them with the desires of those outside of us. We may have a great idea, only to see it disappear because we forget to take any action on it. This is very common in our busy world today and we need to find more ways to keep our personal goals as a main focus in our lives.
Choose The Right Personal Goals
The first thing that happens when we decide where we want to head next in a particular area of life is the thought and choice of our new destination. Taking the time to become clear on exactly what we want can save us from many hardships in the future while also maintaining our best focus. Most of the time, we have a general idea of what we want but do not continuously act from inspiration on it because it fails to keep us motivated.
In order to stay motivated, we must choose personal goals that inspire us and are clearly in line with that which we desire. As an example, we can discuss a recreational type of goal.
It is easy for anyone to say that they want to go on vacation. This is very unclear and usually leads to no action at all if it is the only focus.
Some questions that we may need to ask ourselves to get more clear include the following:
- Where do I want to go on vacation?
- How much money do I want to spend on vacation?
- What kind of food and entertainment do I want to enjoy on my trip?
These types of questions help get into the details and keeps our focus on the right kind of personal goals that we are setting. When we choose the right personal goals that inspire us because we have thought them out, it is much easier to keep taking action on them.
The 3 Steps To Inspired Action
As we know, taking action is the sure course way to arriving at the success of a new goal. I have listed 3 steps below that have usually helped me to remain inspired.
Step One: Get Clear
As discussed before, getting clear is the best way to kick-start the process towards achieving your personal goals. This means that you take the time to decide, in detail, what it is that you want. Write your new goal down and keep a clear image in your head of your new goal.
Step Two: Know That You Can Achieve It
This part usually requires some visualization for me, but it may be different for you. Look for ways that you can believe in your mind that it is possible to achieve your new personal goals. I like to quiet my mind and visualize for 5 minutes at a time that I have already achieved my goal. This helps me to acknowledge that it is possible for me. You may want to try this from time to time.
Step Three: Act On Inspiration
Inspiration is a sign that you are doing the right thing for yourself. In a journey to become more aligned with the best version of ourselves, it is important to enjoy what we are doing. Ask yourself the following question: What is the next thing that I can do, which excites me the most, about my new goal? I highly recommend that you take this next step and get the process moving along!
Going over these three steps every now and then is a great way to keep you on track with any new personal goals that you may have.
