Anxiety, terror, and depression are everywhere in our society today. We see it on the news, we hear it from our friends, and some of us seem to think about negativity on autopilot (is that you?). Have you ever been so stressed out that you could just feel it? Maybe your head hurt, or you felt nauseas, but one thing was for sure – the effects of stress on the body was horrible.
Other sources of stress can include life changing events, heartbreak, and work-oriented problems…or just about anything else you can think of. Life can be stressful, there is no doubt about that.
Ask yourself this: Do you know what that stress can do to you on a mental and physical level?

How Stress Affects You Physically and Mentally
Our bodies are completely integrated through both our mind and physical self. Since they are both all part of the same system that makes up the human body, there is a huge effect that both have on one another. For example, physical exercise can release hormones that make us feel elevated and amazing for hours after our workout. Another example would be stress – it can quite literally make us feel sore and completely out of it.

So, what are the effects of stress on a human being?
Find out some of the effects below:
1. Immune system destroyer. Stress can make our immune systems weak, which in return can cause us to be more at risk for disease and infection.
2. Physical tension. Our back, shoulders, and neck can become very tense when under extreme circumstances causing headaches amongst other physical issues.
3. Loss of mental clarity. Sometimes when stressful situations occur and we don’t know how to deal with them, we can lose our sense of mental clarity. This can leave you feeling separate from your body and in a complete daze.
4. Wreaking havoc on the digestive system. During periods of longer term stress, you are more apt to have ulcers, acid reflux. Stress can even cause us to vomit, have constipation, or diarrhea issues.
5. Lack of sleep. Just another bad one to add to this list. Insomnia can be induced by stressful moments in life, thus keeping one awake at night and unable to get proper rest.
6. Expanding waistlines. Stress can cause us to overeat depending on our reactions and personality type which has detrimental effects on our bodies physiology.
7. More prone to accidents. When we are undergoing major stress, whatever is stressing us out takes up most of our attention. This can make us at higher risk for accidents.
